AM: Do you think X will pick up on my Perfectionist.
Betty: Yeah, you gotta talk to him about that feeling that mom will be upset. It’s like, “X, your choices need to come from inside of you, not from what other people think.“ As we go through life, yes, other people have their opinions. And we can use them perhaps to learn from them. But, we can’t use other people’s opinion as an excuse for not hearing what God wants of us. Each of us have a unique relationship, because we have a unique mission. And so, our job is to go before the Lord, and listen for what mission God has for us. Then we cooperate with that.
AM: I don’t want to negatively impact my kids where they feel like they have to do something that they don’t want to do.
Betty: Okay, why don’t you put that into a prayer. “Lord Jesus, I hold up to you, each one of my children. If there is any way that they, in tuning into Tim or me, they have left their ability to hear Your voice and instead have chosen to hear ours and to do what pleases us, we no longer want that. Please Lord, we beg You to free them from any kind of pressure, expectation, or demand that isn’t really their first choice. Lord, we want to respect them as the unique individuals that they are. And most of all, we want them free to hear Your voice in whatever way You wish to reach them. We beg you to set them free from any kind of controlling influence we have had on them that is not what You want in Your highest will for them. Please grace them with a deep relationship with You that they hunger and desire to know what it is that you want of them and to do it. We step back from the false role of Pseudo Savior, and we give them over to You as was intended when You created them.”
Do you need to release your children to the mission that God has chosen for them? If so, I invite you to join in the above prayer, so that you can set them free to follow their calling.
