Betty: X could be picking up this anger inside of you and getting caught into it.
AM: But anger at what?
Betty: Well, when you get angry, it broadcasts. So, other people who have decent pickups pick it up in you. I think I tend to get that way, too. It’s like I’m picking up this anger, and I want to know if I did something wrong, because this other person is angry.
AM: But I haven’t even been around her when I’ve been angry. I’ve been more depressed than angry.
Betty: It’s sometimes hard to tell the difference between those two.
AM: It’s that judgmental side that I see in her. She’s judging me.
Betty: Well, you’re in yours, too. It kind of helps you recognize it in the other person.
AM: It’s interesting because she’s placed the demands on me.
Betty: Don’t we often project in the other what’s inside of us? So, it’s easy for her to pick up what she thinks are demands from others while she’s busy demanding herself. Pray in tongues, and let this crud come up, so you don’t have to carry it around.
AM: I just hear the words “expectations” and “demands.”
Betty: Usually that’s a two-way street. People’s expectations and demands get on us when we ourselves are caught in our own. So, look at, “What are some of the expectations and demands you’re making on others?” You need to pray in tongues, and find out what’s going on inside of you that you lost your peace. The Lord wants peace. He doesn’t like us to lose our peace.
AM: So, are you saying if we think someone is putting demands on us, then that means we’re putting expectations on someone else?
Betty: I don’t know if it always goes that way. Let’s see what comes up. You have to be willing to hear what’s going on in you and if there’s a Perfectionist inside arguing that she doesn’t want to deal with her stuff. You want X to deal with her stuff. That’s confirming you’re projecting your crud into others instead of working through your own. So, X is doing that to you. She’s already said she’s aware there’s something she needs to work thru that she hasn’t owned up to. So, she went that far. But then she didn’t want to go any further. It’s almost like she wanted you to take it over and deal with yours. I’m saying, “No lady. Go back and deal with yours. Stop running away. Deal with your crud. Don’t go out and try to dig AM’s up? That’s not going to solve anything.”
We don’t personally like to deal with our own junk. We’re always ready to let somebody else deal with it for us. We like to dump it on other people, especially people who love us, because they’re safer.
People’s expectations and demands get on us when we ourselves are caught in our own. So, look and see if you have expectations and demands that you’re making on others. Pray and find out what’s going on inside of you that you lost your peace.
