THAT INVITES OTHERS TO THROW THEIR HOOKS INTO IT

Betty: Remember how I was telling you how mean you treat yourself?

AM: Why is that if you hate yourself than someone else treats you badly?

Betty: Take that statement, “Why do I hate myself?” Stop and feel that. I want you to

admit it. You treat yourself like you’re a case. There’s a big component of self-

hatred in you that you have not been willing to give up. The hook is the part of

you that treats you badly. You do it to yourself and that invites others to throw

their hooks into it, because you already agree with it. You’re the judge of yourself. You’ve already condemned yourself as unworthy and as failing in the job. I don’t want to be around you on Judgment Day, because I’m afraid If you don’t break this bad habit of playing God, you’re going to throw yourself at the bottom of Purgatory.

AM: How do I break it?

Betty: To get out of it, first you have to repent. Repent that you’re detached from who

you are as a person. You have given permission to condemn yourself. “Lord, help

me open the trap door where I’ve thrown away who I am, the authentic me, because I

have judged she isn’t worth talking to and working with. Lord, when did I first

start to judge myself like this? I need to treat myself as you treat me, namely with

respect. Help me break the bad habit of self-condemnation and hatred.”

In your childhood, your Perfectionist was letting out her anger and rage in those times. You’ve let your Perfectionist be a tyrant inside of you getting what she’s wanted. She’s a spoiled brat. It’s time you take back control of yourself from her, but you do it in

and through Jesus. You cannot do it of yourself. It’s something you have to do in

prayer. In the presence of Jesus, go to her and tell her you’re out of order.

It’s necessary that you say it to that part of yourself inside. I see you as a tyrant to

yourself. You don’t treat me like you treat yourself. God made you. Are you

honoring Him by hatred? Love means to seek the real good for oneself. That’s

healthy self love. Then hatred is to seek what is evil for oneself. Is this how you open the door to Satan in your life? Anytime you don’t do something as you think

it should be done, your response is one of hatred, rather than turning to God and

asking for help and prayer.

Could this be how the door gets open through which Satan can walk right in and

bang you, because you opened the door. So you need to say to yourself, “If I’m

only bringing Hell to myself and misery, Lord, help me stop this. This is crazy.“

I can’t think of a sane person leaving the door open, so anybody with evil intent

could come in and wallop them. If someone did that, we’d want to get them help. You know what to fast from during Lent. Fast from your hatred of self.
