Betty: Your good girl image is being taken away from you. It’s not an authentic image that Jesus has given you, but one that your ego has built up. Can you see your adult, with Jesus, who is Eternal Truth. You are safe with Jesus. We all build a pseudo-self as we’re going through traumas in early life. We think we need them to survive. Sooner or later, the pseudo-self needs to collapse. In second grade, when the teachers said you were perfect, it was messed up. Your focus turned to being perfect which is a lie.

Growing up, X would show his best side to others, and then you’d see his angry self. As a kid, you tried to learn from him. You saw X had a good side. You learned that you have this persona which was your good side that you show people, and then you have your angry side that you hide. X grew up in a home where his mom showed her good side to others, and then showed her bad side to him.

Years ago, when I was doing ministry, I had a word of knowledge for one of my friend’s clients. When I told my friend’s client, she was furious. She said, “That’s not me. That’s my mom.” She had to let this side collapse, or she wouldn’t become her authentic self. The false structure she’d built up over the years had to collapse for her to become her authentic self. She needed to get out from behind this false image.

There are two sides to most everyone, except really holy people. Ask the Lord to help you open the door to that child who was so furious at X and all the others who have two sides of themselves. Get to her eye level and say, “It’s a fact of life. People have a side they judge as good that they show others and a side that needs to go to Jesus to get healed.” The good news is we have Jesus. Give Jesus the heavy, enraged judger you have on X and others—all those people who showed others their good side, yet they have this other side. It’s time for you to go to Jesus and get healed from yours. It’s not their time yet.”
