WHEN WE THINK WE’VE HAD ENOUGH

I emailed Betty last week about my frustration with my feet injury. This was her email back to me: “Perhaps focusing your prayer on His Passion will help as that will help you get stronger inside.  Ask Jesus to help you surrender where your will is opposing His as God’s strength can flow more powerfully through you when your will is one with His.  I’ve noticed that ego strength cannot handle physical pain well…have you noticed?”

Since I’ve had to stay off my feet, I’ve been going through my journals. I came across a conversation I had with my Aunt Betty 15 years ago. I was saying, “I can’t stand it,” to which Betty heard the Lord reply, “If it’s something I want, you can stand it.  Here are her words to me:

“To say you can’t do it is to be deceived. You are controlling your future. You are tempting God to have to prove to you that nothing is impossible with Him.  You’re living in the future. Don’t tempt God so that He then shows you that you can do it with His grace.  You can’t determine what’s possible in the future based on what’s possible in the present. God will provide what you need when the time comes. Going out into the future is not of the Lord. “Your word is a lamp to my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105).  This scripture says that His word is a lamp to our feet.  That light doesn’t project far into the future. It is at our feet as we walk in trust day by day.”

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold–though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (1 Peter 1:7)
