Betty: Well, there you get more into politics. I don’t know. I don’t want to go there. But anyhow, what good does anybody do carrying around the anger. You’d be far better to pray for your politicians then keep cursing them with your anger. There’s a lot of hatred and vindictiveness going around. We need to repent of vindictive speaking. We gotta watch our tongues. Because when people feel insecure, they have a tendency to blame this one or that one rather than sitting humbly before God saying, “Show me where I am in this whole mess,” and then allowing the Lord to work with what they’re contributing to the mess. It’s so much easier to sit there and criticize everybody else. 

People will say, ”Sr Betty, why do you have to keep bringing me into it? Back off.” That energy has to come out of our desire. Look, you know what to do. I think the prayer today has taught you. Beg the Lord to really work with you in this area. Ask Him to help you come alive. I see the image of a dead horse. You need to say to the Lord, “Teach me. What does the symbol of dragging a dead horse mean in my life?”

First you’re going to have to repent once you find out what the dead horse is that you’re dragging. Is it resentment over the fact that you suffer from depression? Is that what’s keeping you somewhat dead in some part of your being? Have you really accepted your cross? Or do you really treat your horse, your cross, like it’s a dead horse that you haven’t really accepted. You’re just dragging it along. You and X have something in common in so that X, I think has held herself back by treating her illness like it’s a dead horse that she’s dragging along. It’s not a good place to be. You’re supposed to embrace your crosses and hold them up to the Lord. And then he can give you His grace to carry it, and you don’t have to be dragging it. 

Because when I got that image, it looked so laborious dragging a dead horse all over the place. And I’m sure the Lord gave us this humorous image, because he wanted to make it as repulsive as possible to you, so you give it up. Who wants to go through life dragging a dead horse? That’s the way you feel in your spiritual life, isn’t it? So, it’s an apt description of your feelings. Have you really cried out about that cross? I’m hearing that prayer, “Out of the depths, I cry unto Thee, Oh Lord.” So, we’re getting into something deep inside of you where you’re screaming “No!” No, to the will of God. I think all of us in theTuesday group will be faced with the ways hidden within us that we are in a screaming “no” to God. And those places need to be giving themselves up.
