PLACEBO EFFECT AND FAITH

I have been going through old journals from 2009, and I came across this.  My Aunt Betty was challenging me to put my faith in action. Her words to me are in red below:

Think about the placebo effect. There are changes in the mind when people are told that a pill can heal them. The mind changes to allow the body to receive the effects. Jesus stresses how important faith is. In one of the Gospels, He said He could not work miracles because there was no faith there.

In the placebo effect, faith is built in. The body is focused in the right direction and can allow the healing to occur. God has great respect for the free will He gave us.  We have to open ourselves to allow the power of God to work within us. By giving Him permission to open those closed areas in my will that are within and outside of me as well as asking God to move me to want to close those areas both within and outside of me I am asking Him to motivate me to want what He knows is best for me.  I am asking Him to be my Master Therapists aiding me to make the changes that are best for me. By entering into focusing in on God this way it helps me to avoid a lot of ups and downs. I aim to surrender to God’s wisdom and cling to Him, expecting change to take place. To grow spiritually I need to put my focus intentionally on the Lord. It helps me to see things in a supernatural way, rather than the little kid way. St. Therese became a saint by handling the little things well. When my inner child gets bent out of shape, I benefit by talking with her. I have learnt not to expect so much from other people because they may not have as much grace. When you are listening inside, send the negative emotions to cross. You’re not the Savior. It helps stuff not cling to you. To make progress, others have to give their stuff to Jesus as well. We can start it for them, and learn to take the power of the enemy away. The important thing is that we focus on God.
