OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE NEGATIVE PARTS INSIDE US THAT WE’RE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR

Betty: Own the parts of yourself that you’re not attracted to.Those parts are ignored and denied. So, instead of using the word “repressed,” you can use the words “ignored” and “denied.” But they still remain active in your life. And other people have to bear the brunt of the negative parts that you’re not taking responsibility for. So, that’s what the work is about. It’s learning to love. Because that is what love is about, namely to seek the other’s good. Or basically seek the good of God, self and others. It’s three-fold.

AM: Is it by accepting them in their weakness?

Betty: It’s to recognize that if the person is irritating you and getting your goat, that you possibly, I’m not saying in every case, but you possibly have a goat hiding in you. So, instead of pouncing on them and demanding they change, a more effective way is to turn to the Lord, and ask him to help you find the goat inside of you. And sincerely move to try to get over whatever is irritating you. I say to the Lord, “Please help me find the lost sheep.” He’s a shepherd. And he said, “You have 99 sheep and one’s lost. You go seek the lost.” He’s truth. So, I seek the part that I have pushed out of truth, because I didn’t want to deal with it and see that it’s in me, namely the part that is irritating me. In other words, they’re getting my goat. I let Jesus help me find it and I work with Him, handing it over acknowledging, “Yeah, I have this part that…”

AM: So, when you heal your goat, then you said the other person doesn’t bother you. But do they also get healing as well? How does that work?

Betty: Well, go back to the famous story I told you of the woman who was complaining that her husband was sitting on the coach watching football and she was doing the hard work with me and he got healed too…

AM: But what if it’s somebody you don’t care about that much? It’s not someone that’s close to you?

Betty: See, that’s where in the heart of Jesus you don’t have those people if you try to put on the heart of Jesus. He’s calling us to love everybody. In other words, seek the good of all.

AM: So, even if it’s someone who you meet who you’re not going to see again and they’ve got your goat? You pray and God uses that to help heal them?

Betty: Yeah.

AM: So, if you have a person that’s very difficult, like the person we talked about yesterday, that I don’t care much about…

Betty: Yeah, but that person holds gold for you.

AM: What if you don’t care about them getting healed, because you don’t care about them?

Betty: Okay, but that person is a gold mine. Because all your feelings are telling you, “Boy, if I really let Jesus work in me, then I’m going to get closer to Jesus. That person is a big help.” I know. It’s not easy to be a Christian.

Is someone getting your goat? Turn to the Lord, and ask him to help you find the goat inside of you. And sincerely move to try to get over whatever is irritating you. You could say to the Lord, “Please help me find the lost sheep.”
