SITTING DOWN ON THE JOB

Betty: You have to make a choice. Have you prayed and put it before the Lord and asked for guidance?

AM: Not really.

Betty: So, there’s a part of you that’s sitting down on the job letting yourself be shoved around. See, knowing you, I don’t think you like that about yourself. Because you’re not being authentic. What do you think is going on? Go into tongues. Come on. Your job is following Jesus. You’ve got to keep up with Him. It sounds like you’re taking a vacation.

AM: I’m depressed. So, I’m spending time writing. That’s how I handle it.

Betty: If you’re running away, your writing won’t be authentic.

AM: Well, no. It’s not creative writing. It’s your writing that I just put into excerpts.

Betty: You can’t stuff who God calls you to be away.

AM: I’m not able to work on my talk for Magnificat, because I’m just flat.

Betty: Sure. You aren’t actively following Jesus. You’re on vacation.

AM: It’s a crappy vacation that’s for sure.

Betty: Well, you’ve got to sit down with Jesus and talk to that part. Get whatever part it is moving.  I have decided to follow Jesus. Have you really decided? It doesn’t look like it. What are you doing sitting under the tree?

AM: I’ve been praying and going to the chapel.

Betty: Well, that’s good. You’re kind of holding back being lethargic. Jesus said, “Would that you were hot or cold, but because you are neither, I will spit you out…” I would apologize to Jesus.

AM: ” Lord, I’m sorry…”

Betty: Let the funky parts speak, so you can see what’s going on, and get back on the way. We’re meant to be following. I keep seeing you sitting under a tree.

AM: I don’t feel relaxed like that.

Betty: Well, I don’t know if it’s relaxing or despairing, listening to crap, which is taking away your inspiration to follow the Lord.

AM: I think it is more despairing.

Betty: You’re not deciding to follow Jesus. You’re following the part that is giving up on Jesus. You really need to close that door and go in the door of integrity and cry out, “Out of the depths, I cry out to thee, O Lord. Lord, hear my prayer.” And present the part of you that is in integrity, not the lukewarm part. That part needs to be listened to, but repented of. So, come on, let’s move.

AM: “Lord, I do cry out to you for your help…

Betty: Jesus Christ says He is truth. He is the Word. He is the way that leads to life. Do you believe what he says is true? Now, look at your life. If there’s anything that’s contradicting that truth, sit at the foot of the cross and hand it over.

Take time to hand over anything inside you that’s contradicting the truth.

  2. “He gives beauty for ashes, an oil of joy for mourning and a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that you may be called a tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 I pray you receive His beauty, joy and praise.
