SATAN CAN HAVE  AN ALLY IN OUR FEELINGS

AM: I know God’s gonna take care of us, but I’m angry because the evil in the world is having a lot of success…

Betty: Go into tongues. You can turn that into a prayer. In other words, anger is an energy. And when you feel anger, what you really want to do is recycle that energy for who God’s calling you to be or where you think God is calling you. So, every time you feel anger inside yourself, it’s like a recycle bin that you gotta recycle, so this energy is not lost.

Anger can either stay within to chew up your stomach and give you ulcers, or anger can be transformed into creativity that gets things done. I think we need to learn to give our anger over to the Lord, and beg him to use it for His glory, so that the energy is not wasted. The enemy is glorifying himself, and you’re upset. Then, cry out to the Lord, and put that in a prayer. What is it you want to say to the Lord?

AM: “Lord, I feel this stuckness, not knowing where you’re calling me…

Betty: Do you think the Lord is asking you to really get yourself ready to be a qualified source of wisdom for younger people who will need people like you. We need the willingness to do the work to keep moving ahead yielding our will learning more and more how to really stop this work of Satan from being so successful. The Christ in you can do this. Now, we can’t do it of ourselves. That’s where wisdom comes in. You need the Christ in you to come forth to make this possible.

AM: “Lord, I do need your strength to make this possible. I do want to be a part of whatever it is that you’ve put me here for. I feel very purposeless and directionless…”

Betty: Now, wait a minute. Let’s stop and take a look at this. When you feel purposeless and spinning, do you image, think, and feel that and go over and put it in the hands of the Lord and say, “Lord, make use of this for your kingdom?” See, I think it’s a habit, and that’s part of your depression. You feel it, and you kind of sit in it and feel badly. But why don’t you give it to Christ to transform? It’s like you come to the recognition it’s there, but then you sit there in it. And it’s like, “Hey. Don’t you know if Christ is for you, who can be against you?” I thought you knew that. In other words, live your faith. We’ve gotta be careful that we don’t let Satan convince us that he’s the conqueror and we’re the victim. Nah. We don’t buy that bill of goods anymore. Stop it. It’s not working.

“Lord, help us to stop putting too much faith in our feelings as though they run supreme and take over our life. In any way we’re giving them permission to take over our life, Lord, help us to stop it. Because if we didn’t give them permission, they wouldn’t be taking over.” I think it’s easy for us to just accept discouragement and pull in and sit and suck our thumb and feel sorry for ourselves. But it’s such a sick image. I don’t like that image. I get the image of sitting in the corner with legs crossed sucking one’s thumb. It gets nowhere. So, we do have the advantage. We read the book. We know we win in the end. So,the key is to hook into the winning side. Satan will keep throwing us images of us losing sitting in the corner sucking our thumb. But we know we won in the end. So, we’ve got to reject the image. Do we believe the book or not?

AM: We do.

Betty: But it can feel like Satan is winning. And see there’s where I think Satan has an ally, namely in the feelings. It feels like the other side is winning. Feelings are not true. They’re fleeing. That’s why I keep warning you, “Don’t sit at the feet of feelings to gain your strength.” Go into tongues. Try to listen to the Holy Spirit.

If you struggle with letting your feelings take over, you can pray, “Lord, help me to stop putting too much faith in my feelings as though they run supreme and take over my life. In any way I’m giving them permission to take over my life, Lord, help me to stop it. Because if I didn’t give them permission, they wouldn’t be taking over.”
