SPEAKING JUDGMENT ON ANOTHER

Betty: Someday we will be very responsible for how we were loose with our tongues. Look at the Scriptures on judgment, “That which you judge another for will be visited on you.” (Matthew 7:2) There are serious implications, because before you talked with the loose tongue, there was the judgment that went before that. Do you following what I’m getting to? So, the whole idea of the loose tongue and judgment are related. Yet, if you take it into account what Jesus said, ”‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matt 25:40)

That even helps you realize how terribly serious it is to flap your tongue saying things about another. You’re really doing it to Christ, when you do it to the other. So, I can see where all this is like what the Lord’s talking about with the tongue. We have to be responsible. He doesn’t treat it lightly. “So, Lord we just lift up to you anytime that we have been loose, speaking judgment on another. Help us to realize how serious this is. Help us use our time to speak your truth to help others come closer to You, but never to use the tongue to destroy another’s reputation in order to feel better about ourselves. Heal every member of our family in any way that we have hurt each other with our tongues.”

Reflect on whether you’re speaking a blessing on another person or whether you’re cursing another with judgmental words.
