AM: “Lord, I give you this place that’s resisting and that doesn’t like the call that you’ve given me…”
Betty: Take hold of the arrogant part, or it will rule your life. She’ll make you miserable. You’ve been around arrogant people; they’re not happy people.
AM: I’m bored with…
Betty: That’s arrogance. That part is always fast to be bored. That’s why I’d always say to the youth when they’d say they were bored, “Well, then get un-bored; it’s a choice.” Jesus is with you. What do you want to say to Him?
AM: I’m just very stuck right now. I’m having a hard time getting out of it.
Betty: Well, what I see is your will is over in choosing arrogance. The first thing that has to move is your will. You have to be willing to realize that with a Christian, joy comes through suffering to become the person you’re called to be. It’s not to shut people out, that they have to do the work.
AM: “Lord, please help me to embrace the cross that you’ve given me. I’m a stubborn person… Please help me.”
Betty: So then, you turn to Jesus and cry out, “Lord, help me stop choosing this stubborn, arrogant place, because it makes me feel miserable. I want to make choices out of love. I want to be like you. You would never think this way.” Just imagine Jesus saying all the stuff you’ve been saying. It’s not who he is. And you want to be one with Him. So, this part of you that you’re looking at today really has to go. It’s a foreign element filled with darkness. And that would make me depressed living with that. You don’t want to be that way. Satan makes it sound great, because he’s in Hell, and he wants company. But imagine an Eternity thinking like that. You wouldn’t like that.
AM: I’m so darn stuck. It’s like, “What’s my problem?”
Betty: Well, you’re identified with your dark side, and you’re choosing it.
AM: I don’t want to.
Betty: No, because it’s Hell. You don’t want to live in Hell.
AM: It’d be awful to live like this for Eternity.
Betty: Okay, so you need to be the woman God’s calling you to be. So, let’s get to work.
AM: “Lord, I don’t know how to move forward. I’m just in a bad place. I need your help.”
Betty: I told you what to do. First, make the right choice. A part of you wants to have one foot in the choice of seeking every pleasure you desire. You know something’s wrong with that one. We come to joy thru becoming who He’s called us to be. Unfortunately, it has a bit of the crucifixion along the way to the resurrection. And you can’t avoid it. And you seem to want to avoid it. When you say, “Let X take care of it,” that’s not your most noble side. I would say, “Lord, teach me how to die to that part.” You don’t want to strengthen the part of you that wants pleasure. You want to die to your will. Because that’s the job the Lord has decreed for those He’s called to enter into His will.
If you find yourself in a stuck place, turn to Jesus and cry out, “Lord, help me stop choosing this stubborn, arrogant place, because it makes me feel miserable. I want to make choices out of love. I want to be like you.”
