Betty: The whole bunch need to really look at their smelly junk, rather than keep throwing them on each other, right?
AM: But, I feel like I have been saying, “But for the grace of God, there goeth I,” for a lot of years. So, it’s not like it’s a revelation to me that I’ve got a lot of stinky garbage.
Betty: But it’s amazing how much garbage we can contain. Keep digging. You haven’t reached bottom yet. Maybe get some deodorant spray and spray it around, and it’ll help. But you notice with your kids, the more you’re facing your crud, the easier it is for them to love you. Because again, sooner or later, they’re too young to face that there’s a certain wisdom that comes with age. You can’t force that on the youngster. They have to come at it in their own rhythm and time. But like X, she would be so much happier if she could face her own crud.
AM: She might be forced to because of her kids. They’re pushing her buttons.
Betty: I’m sure they’re smashing her to bits at times. Kids can. I watch parents. I think kids are really for the sanctity of parents. Every child they bring into this world and sacrifice themselves so much for really helps them along the road of sanctity.
