AM: “Lord, I don’t like to be around people where I don’t feel like they’re safe and consistent…”
Betty: Okay, now if you want to follow through on that, if that were me, I’d probably say to the Lord, “Lord, you know me inside and out. So, if there’s something I do that is offensive to people that they want to react this way, would you teach me, so I don’t go to that place and get vulnerable to being rejected and hurt?” See, it’s that humility to admit, “Gosh, I feel this way…” You go to one who can really help you; that is a good thing. Because you’re inviting Jesus to show you little ways you open doors to get into this mess that you possibly don’t even know you’re doing.
AM: So, are you picking up that there’s doors that I get opened?
Betty: Well, if people manage to get in and keep kicking you, it doesn’t take a genius to know that there are doors that are open. Yeah, there’s something you do that gives them permission to do this. You need the Lord’s help to get those doors closed, so that it’s not sitting there for the next person who’s in a bad mood to grab it and go in and kick you.
AM: “Lord, I do pray that You give me wisdom to not open those doors, however it is I open them. Help me to be in tune to that. I ask today that you get those doors closed whereby people can take advantage.”
Betty: Well, get them closed and healed. You want two things to happen. Don’t just get them closed, but get them healed.
AM: “Lord, I do pray that you get them closed and healed. If you want to show me those doors…”
Betty: And help me know what to do. See, I was trying to show you how I pray. It’s like, “Lord, show me how to handle it, so I don’t mess up. Basically, I’m asking for help.
If you have an open door, I invite you to pray, ”Lord, you know me inside and out. So, if there’s something I do that is offensive to people that they want to react this way, would you teach me, so I don’t go to that place and get vulnerable to being rejected and hurt?”
