Betty: Do you believe that God is good? Then, if God is good, would he choose bad for you? 

AM: No 

Betty: So, how does that affect your life? 

AM: You trust that God’s gonna bring good out of whatever is happening. 

Betty: Do you? 

AM: Yeah, he’s bringing good out of it. It’s just a struggle… 

Betty: Yeah, but I think you know what I’m getting at. Some of your points of pain come from doubting that God is seeking your good with whatever. You have difficulty accepting what He’s permitted to happen. And would you know more joy if your faith could get stronger? If you could ask the Lord to help you to truly believe that if He’s permitted things to happen in your life, then it is good for you. See, I’m looking at it from the viewpoint of coming to greater peace. What I’m suggesting is a road to deeper peace. Now, some people want the ability to rebel against God and God’s choices for them. And they claim it’s their individual right to do so. True, but does that right lead them to greater happiness in their life? No. It’s one of the things I was baffled with in life. It’s like, “Okay, that’s their right. They can choose that.” But if it makes them more miserable, I find it difficult to understand why they would choose it. But they do have a right. And God respects that. He gives us the right to choose Hell over Heaven. Personally, I think that’s going a bit far. But it’s their right. So, I stay out of it. God must scratch His head at times when He looks down at all this and thinks, “Well, they’re right. It’s their right.” But it’s like, “Why in the world would they wish this on themselves? They say, “I can go to Hell if I want to.” Yeah, but I can’t understand why you want to.
