YOU DON’T GO IN WITH A BAG OF PUFFED UP KNOWLEDGE

AM: What do you do with a couple that is really in the throes of a bad marriage and their stuff is coming up?

Betty: You keep asking God, step by step. You don’t go in with a bag of puffed up knowledge. You go at it step by step saying, “Lord, how can I just help them at this moment?” He will show you. Let’s just take that case. That’s where you enter into awareness of your own lack of ability that you can handle it. So, you keep praying, “Come Lord Jesus. You’re my hope here.” Then you keep lifting it up to Him. If it comes back to mind again, lift it up to him. I just keep doing that, because we’re just creatures. I do that prayer a lot.

“Lord, take them to the person, place and situation. Get them the information, whatever it is they need.” And every time it comes up, it’s like. “He’s my hope. The Lord’s going to do it.” I keep giving it over. But even there, I think if I were having those feelings, I would say to the Lord, “Work with me if you’re calling me in some way to help them and I am in resistance out of my own stuff.” Because you’re always in a mystery when you’re working with people. You don’t know how much is your junk and how much is theirs. It’s like, “Jesus, I keep turning this over to you, because I feel like I’m in over my head.” I talk with Jesus, and he shows me what to do. Keep holding it up to the Lord. It’s his problem, not ours.

AM: “Lord, I particularly hold up this couple and ask that you would put the right person in their path to help them learn.

Betty: “And if I’m the right person, help me to know that and be willing. and know what door to approach.” Go into tongues, and let the Holy Spirit show you how to handle it. Stay under the cloak of Jesus under his precious blood.

If you find yourself in a difficult situation, you can pray, “Jesus, I keep turning this over to you, because I feel like I’m in over my head.”
