AM: I’m blocked as far as my prayers.
Betty: Why don’t you put that in a prayer?
AM: “Lord, I want to open all the doors you want to open and close the doors…”
Betty: Okay. What I get is fear. What you need to do without getting in your head is to answer it out in your gut. Don’t stop to think about it. What are you running from?
AM: These times, and what’s ahead. I trust God that he’s gonna get me through, but I feel disappointed and don’t like all the uncertainty.
Betty: Can you open the door, and let the sadness come in, believing that Jesus is there? The first thing you have to do is check your faith gauge. What’s your gut say it is?
AM: My faith gauge is at a seven. Because the head has a lot of faith, but the gut doesn’t.
Betty: I heard that your gut is at a zero, when I said, “’Where’s your faith gauge?” So, there’s where your problem is. Your gut faith is at 0. Your head is at 7. What do you need to do when you find that there’s such a discrepancy between the two?
AM: Convert the heart part.
Betty: Okay, are you supposed to convert it?
AM: No. Jesus has to convert it.
Betty: Okay, so what do you have to do on your part to bring that about?
AM: Surrender, and then open the door to let him work.
Betty: If I were in your place, I would know that I can’t surrender. Because I don’t have the faith. It takes faith to surrender. And if my faith was at a zero, then I’d know I can’t surrender. I don’t have the wherewithal. So, I would immediately go into, “Jesus, help me. I’m in distress. This is an emergency. I’m at zero. I really need you.” See, if you find your gut in a distressful condition, you’d do the same thing you would do if you were historically out here, and you were absolutely, totally unable to help yourself. You’d cry out to the Lord, “Come Lord Jesus. I’m in desperate need.”
Your unbeliever is really up strong. It wants to run. And that makes a lot of sense. Because in the light of what is happening in the world, nobody can handle what’s going on in the natural level. It’s foolish to believe that you can even begin to handle it on the natural level. So, unless you believe that Jesus Christ is always there for you, willing and able to help you, you can’t even face that thought.
If you find yourself in distress, cry out to the Lord, “Come Lord Jesus. I’m in desperate need.”
